Two inseparable friends, Vyžilý and Boudník, a village self-made talent and a not-so-successful professional theatre actor, want to make a living as entertainers. But they are running up against both the ceiling of their abilities and the disfavour of the approval authorities. The normalization era of the 70s and 80s does not favour anything distinctive and both heroes repeatedly experience setbacks. Although the story of a lost generation was planned at the end of the former regime, it was not released until 1990.

The family of a film screenwriter, who needs fresh air and, above all, peace and quiet for his creative work, moves to a small country farm for a while. However, his wife, a former, somewhat hysterical actress, still does not give him any peace, and so his small family, which also includes a six-year-old son, is in danger of falling apart. Unexpected, mysterious events, however, show them the way back. This is because there is a former coffee roastery on the farm, and the wife, together with her neighbor Dědek, starts a business against her husband's will.

Fascinated by the possibility of finding in Negi a spiritual guide to come to terms with death, Ben relives and shares his personal story. His journey leads him to deal with the role life has given him, closely linked to his relationship with his father. "Il testimone" (i.e. The witness) is a tv show created, made and presented by Pif. Every episode consists of a "mini-reportage", filmed through a little camera that Pif brings himself. This makes the spectator feel as if most of the tv filtres are removed and thus they can almost witness the events with their own eyes and feel directly involved in the social messages brought on by the show. Themes vary: they go from interviews to famous individuals, to trips, to the work of associations or even small everyday realities.
